THE SetterPUPPY

Playful and very active, your Setter puppy is intelligent and industrious. Spirited and a highly talented hunter, they will no doubt have already won the affection of all your family with their good character and continuous mischief.

CHOOSE YOUR PUPPY WEL

What should you look for when it comes to choosing your Setter puppy?

The puppy’s look
should be cheerful.

1

Their head should
be held high.

2

Their ears should
be set low and back.

3
4

Their neck should be
very well defined.

5

Good skeleton
and muscles.

6

Their teeth should be
well positioned in their jaw.

INTELLIGENT AND, INDUSTRIOUS?

Your Setter puppy is able to understand all of your orders, but they also like to have fun and they will easily infringe the established rules. Act firmly when your dog does something wrong; the tone of voice that you use is very important, given that your setter puppy is able to distinguish whether they have behaved well or badly from your tone of voice.

Inside the home, they love to climb up onto seats and beds. Forbid these behaviours before they turn into habits. On the other hand, you should quickly integrate them into your family life so that they play with the children: they will become great friends.

Setter puppies are quite strong, very active and skittish, and they should be socialised with children and babies from a very early age and with a lot of patience.

QUITE A CHARMER

Setters know how to win the admiration of those who cross their path during a walk. To keep their natural good looks, brush them with a bristle brush and with a metallic comb after a bath, always starting from the head and moving towards the back and tail.

TWO BASIC INSTRUCTIONS IN THEIR TRAINING

Being a hunting dog, there are two basic instructions you should teach a Setter during training.
Basic training orders:

That they lie down

ORDER
"DOWN"

This involves them lying down on their stomach with their head between their front paws. In order to make it more likely that your puppy obeys, crouch down next to them whilst repeating the order.

Once they have learned these two orders, your Setter puppy will be ready to continue with other more complex instructions.
