What we offer 

Based in our Barcelona office the Research Manager will be part of Affinity R&D team, reporting to our Scientific Director. This role will be primarily responsible for preparing and executing the Research plan of Affinity to cover scientific needs aligned with Affinity Innovation strategy.

This research plan has to be executed internally at the Affinity Nutrition Center and also externally with international collaborations with universities and research centers.

The successful execution of the role requires a combination of a solid scientific knowledge in animal nutrition, strategic thought and ability to develop an understanding of pet food business and market, as these external influences may impact on the future research portfolio.

He will count on:

  • A direct team including two Nutrition Scientists
  • The collaboration of Technical Deployment & Communication team, also under the responsibility of Scientific Director
  • Close collaboration and teamwork with all R&D team members, especially with Affinity Nutrition Centre’s team. 

What you will do 

  • Manage research projects within Affinity research program and budget
  • Be responsible for ensuring that all research is carried out to an extremely high standard and to be a champion for data quality
  • Participate to strategize key areas of research aligned to Innovation strategy of Affinity Petcare. 
  • Understand how market and business may impact on future research 
  • Establish and maintain partnership with research international institutions
  • Take responsibility for the management and development of research talent, including coaching, mentoring and leadership of the best in class expertise within the team 
  • Coordinate the affinity scientific communications to scientific congress and journals
  • Support Technical Communication in passing the information from research projects to new product development team and marketing.

What we are looking for

  • Degree ideally in biological sciences (veterinary, biology, medicine, human and animal nutrition, food and animal science…), a doctoral and post-doctoral studies. 
  • +10 years’ experience working in research
  • Previous experience in managing a team would be highly valuable
  • Previous experience in running multi-disciplinary research in a university, government or industry sector, with expertise in companion animal nutrition. 
  • She /he has to have influencing, innovative and creative skills
  • Good leadership and communication skills
  • Someone with a passion for research but also who can apply the science in a business context.
  • Fluent English is a must. Spanish, French and Italian are highly desirable
