What we offer

We offer a Formulator position in the Formulation and New Ingredient Development team. The formulator is the responsible for the maintenance of the formulas produced in the plant. The objective is to get an optimal formula cost while respecting both nutritional and ingredients specifications, achieving the best possible quality with food safety and labelling compliance. Formulas are regularly optimized with the new prices and availabilities of the ingredients, taking into account their nutritional profile, which must be periodically reviewed. Formulation actions are frequently implemented with different objectives: cost optimization, process improvement, quality/performance improvement of the product, adjustment of the formula to ingredient market constraints/opportunities, adjustment to new regulatory requirements...

The formulator is also an active participant in the new ingredient development process.

What you will do

Specific Duties and Responsibilities of a plant formulator:

• Periodical formula optimization with new ingredient prices and availabilities.
• Ingredient nutritional profile maintenance (matrix review), with the corresponding reformulation to adapt the formulas to it.
• Stretch opportunities identification & implementation.
• Formula’s pant maintenance.
• Emergency formulas generation when required.
• Formula code and ingredient code generation.
• Perform formulation Budget, E1, E2.
• Assist/Advice New Product Development team on formulation tasks/studies/projects.
• Provide to purchasing team information about volumes to purchase, studies about new ingredients or new prices, etc.
• Provide to vendor assurance information about supplier’s performance (e.g. trends on matrix review...) and formulation studies when required (e.g. impact of any ingredient change…).
• Finished product nutritional deviations follow-up & investigation.
• New Ingredient Development tasks: Ingredient evaluation and Ingredient Specifications creation and maintenance.

Being part of the R&D department, the formulator has fluently interaction with purchasing and manufacturing departments.

What we are looking for

• University degree in sciences.
• From 1 to 4 years’ experience in food or petfood sector.
• Fluent English is a must. French will be much appreciated. Italian will be also considered.
• Knowledge about ingredients and nutrition.
• Flexibility and adaptability.
